Refund Policy
Margin the app is free. If a theme you bought isn't working for you, we'll give you your money back. No detective work, no friction.
The 14-day window
Margin the app is free, so there's never anything to refund there. For paid themes bought through the Theme Store, you can request a full refund within 14 calendar days of the date you purchased the theme. No reason required.
We offer this because we'd rather you not pay for a theme that doesn't fit. If it isn't your thing, no hard feelings.
How to request a refund
Email hello@marginjournal.app from the address you used to purchase, with the subject line "Refund request". Include:
- Your Paddle order number (it's in your purchase confirmation email)
- Which theme you purchased
- Optionally, a sentence on what didn't work for you — this helps us improve, but it's not required
We'll respond within 2 business days and process the refund through Paddle. Funds typically return to your original payment method within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.
What's covered
Margin (the app) is free, so this policy doesn't need to cover it. The 14-day window applies to:
- Themes purchased through the Theme Store
- Any other one-time purchases sold through marginjournal.app
After 14 days
After 14 days, we don't usually offer refunds — the standard window is meant to give you genuine time to try the product without becoming an open-ended return window. That said, if something has genuinely gone wrong (Margin no longer works for you due to a bug we can't fix, the app is materially different from what you bought, etc.), please email us. We'll work it out fairly.
Statutory rights
Nothing in this policy limits any statutory rights you have under applicable consumer-protection law in your country or region. If your local law gives you stronger refund rights than this policy, those rights apply.
How refunds are processed
Refunds are processed by Paddle.com Market Limited ("Paddle"), the merchant of record for Margin purchases. Once approved, Paddle reverses the original charge through the same payment method you used.
After a refund, the refunded theme is deactivated in Margin. You'll need to stop using that theme on Macs where it was activated. Margin itself stays free to use.
Chargebacks
If something has gone wrong with your purchase, please email us first — it's almost always faster than initiating a chargeback through your bank, and we want to make it right. If you do file a chargeback without contacting us, we'll work with Paddle to provide documentation as needed.
